Why cyber security matters in women's health technology — and why we chose Wolf Network Security
How we partnered with Wolf Network Security to support penetration testing, Cyber Essentials certification and secure-by-design infrastructure
When people talk about digital health innovation, the conversation usually focuses on AI, clinical pathways, patient access, or NHS transformation.
What often gets overlooked is the foundation underneath all of it: trust.
If women are going to share deeply personal health information — from symptoms and menstrual history to mental wellbeing and family health risks — then security and data protection cannot be an afterthought. They have to be built into the platform from day one.
That's why, as we continue building Silvia Health, we've partnered with Wolf Network Security to support our cyber security posture, penetration testing, and Cyber Essentials certification.
Building responsibly from the start
Silvia is still an early-stage platform. We've been very open about that.
Our focus right now is ensuring we build properly, safely, and responsibly before scaling into wider healthcare environments.
That means not just investing in clinical oversight and evidence generation, but also making sure the underlying infrastructure, processes, and security controls are robust enough to support sensitive healthcare workflows.
Cyber security in digital health is not just about ticking compliance boxes. It's about protecting people.
Why this matters in healthcare
Healthcare data is some of the most sensitive information someone can share. And in women's health, those conversations are often incredibly personal.
We believe women should feel confident that platforms handling their information are taking security seriously — including during our NHS pilot.
For us, that means:
- External penetration testing
- Secure infrastructure reviews
- Cyber Essentials certification
- Access control and governance reviews
- Ongoing risk assessment and remediation support
- Building security thinking into development, not bolting it on later
With our first NHS pilot now underway, and private clinic partnerships in active development, this work is critical — not optional.
Why we chose Wolf Network Security
One of the things we've valued most is that they understand the reality of scaling businesses and digital products.
Not every company needs enterprise-level bureaucracy on day one. But every company handling sensitive information does need proportionate, sensible, well-implemented security practices.
Their approach has felt practical, collaborative, and grounded in helping businesses improve rather than overwhelming them with jargon.
For a founder-led startup navigating healthcare, compliance, and technical growth simultaneously, that matters.
Security is part of patient trust
There's a tendency in startups to focus only on features, growth, and speed.
But in healthcare, trust is the product.
Women need confidence not just in the clinical experience, but in the systems behind it.
We see cyber security, governance, and compliance as part of building a responsible women's health platform — not as something to think about later.
And while there's still a huge amount of work ahead, having the right partners around us makes that journey significantly stronger.
We're excited to continue working with Wolf Network Security as Silvia evolves.
