Menopause care in the community, at scale
What we took away from The Pharmacy Show 2026, and why it matters for pharmacies thinking about menopause care.
On Sunday 11 October, founder and CEO Amy Wild headed to The Pharmacy Show at the NEC in Birmingham. One talk in particular stayed with us.
"Every clinician should know the basics"
Anthony Singh of the British Menopause Pharmacy Society opened with a line that set the tone for the whole session.
“Menopause care should be like diabetes and hypertension. Every clinician should know the basics.”
His service now sees more than 1,600 women a year, and secondary care referrals have fallen by 24%. That isn't a niche service. That's menopause care delivered in the community, at scale.
History, mapped to treatment
The line that stuck with us most came later.
“The difference between a good menopause appointment and a great one is how well a woman's history is mapped to her treatment, and noticing how her symptoms change over time.”
It's exactly why Silvia exists. A woman's history is complicated, and no two patients are the same. A great appointment depends on that history being captured properly, and on following how things change from one review to the next.
Why this matters for pharmacy
Community pharmacy has a real opportunity in menopause care. Many of the pharmacies we spoke to want to expand into it, but don't know where to start. The challenge isn't appetite. It's running a menopause service consistently, for every woman, without every consultation starting from scratch.
Confidence matters as much as systems. Many pharmacists are understandably nervous about taking on menopause care, and good training makes the difference. Allied Health Training, led by directors Abdullah Bhana and Ishak Goga, runs a Specialise in Menopause Care course for exactly this, with sessions delivered by Anthony himself, giving pharmacists the clinical grounding to offer menopause care well.
That's where Silvia comes in. It gives pharmacies a structured, consistent foundation to launch or grow their own menopause service.
About Silvia Health
Silvia Health is a structured triage support platform for menopause care, built around NICE NG23 guidance, for GP practices, private clinics and community pharmacies. The pharmacy, practice or clinic sets the rules. Each patient receives a unique, secure link to a structured pre-assessment before her appointment, and Silvia organises her answers into a clinician-facing summary. She's then invited back for structured check-ins at 3, 6 or 12 months, at an interval the service sets, so every follow-up builds on the last and changes over time are easy to see.
Every decision stays with the clinician.
Thank you
Thank you to Dr Lucy Buckley of The Digital Health Assurance Company for the invite, and it was great to see Nitin Makadia on the day too.
