Clinical Safety in Digital Menopause Consultation Tools

How Silvia Health Builds Governance into Women's Health Technology

Amy Wild

Digital tools are increasingly being used to support healthcare consultations. In areas such as menopause care, structured pre-consultation information can help clinicians understand symptoms, history and lifestyle factors before an appointment begins.

However, any technology used within healthcare must be designed with strong governance and clear clinical safety processes.

At Silvia Health, clinical safety has been a central consideration from the earliest stages of development.

Over the past six months we have developed a structured clinical safety framework around the Silvia platform. This work includes maintenance of a detailed hazard log, documentation of system boundaries and intended use, risk mitigation across the assessment workflow, and governance processes aligned with recognised UK digital health standards.

Silvia Lite is designed as a structured menopause assessment tool that helps organise patient-reported information ahead of consultations.

The platform does not provide diagnosis or prescribing recommendations. Final clinical judgement remains entirely with the treating healthcare professional.

Clinical safety governance is particularly important in digital health because technology can influence how information is presented during consultations. Ensuring transparency about system capabilities and limitations helps clinicians use tools appropriately within their practice.

By embedding governance processes early in the development of the platform, Silvia Health aims to ensure that the technology supports clinicians safely and responsibly as menopause care continues to evolve.
